ROSADO. DONATION AND WORKS IN THE COLLECTION Prior to this new arrival, Miguel and Manuel Rosado (San Fernando, Cádiz, 1971) were already represented in the CAAC Collection by works that are also featured in this show, such as those from the series I Am a Rain Dog and Variaciones (Variations) or the site-specific project Ventanas iluminadas (Illuminated Windows) installed in the museum grounds and in this Priory Courtyard. The selected works offer a brief overview of the duo's artistic career in recent years, in which the struggle to find self-identity and capture the dualities of the human condition has been a constant. The presence and/or absence of human figures in their compositions and installations is emphasized by the contexts in which they are situated: real, ordinary spaces that somehow become bizarre and discomfiting for the audience. This uneasy feeling is magnified by the impossibility of communicating with the portrayed figures; the eyes are either closed, avoiding visual contact, or hidden behind masks that are eventually cast aside, leaving observers to wonder which will turn out to be the true face. The duality and hybridization conveyed in these works is also reflected in the artistic devices and media used to create them. The compositions combine photographic images with watercolour to generate new realities, as well as life-sized sculpture that offers audiences a closer look at identity-related conflicts.
